Accelerated Reader Testing Rules

  1. You must read the entire book before testing or you will not be successful. For example, don’t try to take a test with only a few chapters read or the movie watched.
  2. You may use the book except for 4th and 5th grade students while taking a test just as you can reread the passage on the STAAR test for reading.
  3. Remember you are to be quiet during the AR test and only help others if they cannot read a word in the question or answer choices.  If you help the student in picking the answer, then it would be considered cheating.
  4. Tests may be taken in the library, in the classroom, or in the computer lab with teachers’ or librarian’s permission.
  5. Students may not take a test on books more than 2 levels below their reading level.  Example: I can read at a 5th grade level.  I can take tests on 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade books.
  6. If you observe someone not following the AR expectations, please notify the librarian privately.
